GP & Specialist Referral

Complete the form for GP and Specialist referral.

Contact our friendly reception staff with any query. If possible the patient should bring a “hard copy” of the referral on the day of the procedure.

This practice welcomes open access or direct referrals for GI procedures. If the referring medical practitioner believes the procedure is clearly indicated and the patient is in reasonable health the patient can be booked for the procedure. On the day of the procedure the patient is assessed by the Nursing Staff, Anaesthetist in the pre-admission rooms.. Dr Merrett will review the history and preparation and will be able to answer any questions prior to the procedure.

Currently all patients will need to have a negative Covid PCR test although in urgent cases a rapid antigen test will be acceptable. This requirement will be subject to review in 2022.

If patients have any of the following risk factors the reception staff will be able to advise the patient according to our protocols. Alternatively a consultation (telehealth or face to face) can be arranged with Dr Merrett or associate so as not to delay the procedure. As always the judgement of the referring medical practitioner is of paramount importance. If there is any doubt please contact the rooms or Dr Merrett directly.

A consultation is advised if the patient:

Is over 80 years of age

Multiple co-morbidities particularly cardiac or respiratory problems

Takes anti platelet agents – clopidogrel etc  (aspirin is ok)

Anticoagulation – Warfarin, DOAC / NOAC’s – Apixaban etc
